PCBO’s project to open the first Pakistan Business & Community Centre in Ontario, in the Greater Hamilton Area.
The plan
PCBO is working to establish the first Pakistan Business & Community Centre in Ontario: a hub for entrepreneurs, professionals, newcomers and families, and a place for trade, cultural exchange and support services between Pakistan and Canada.
The ten-member board will manage the project and raise the funds through individual pledges and community fundraising in Hamilton and Mississauga. A Board of Trustees will be formed for transparency.
Milestones
Community leaders presented the proposal for the centre.
At a meeting of the Board of Directors and the Centre Committee, the options were ranked and prioritized, and executives made the first pledges.
Goal: about $600,000
The initial estimate, for land, a community hall and meeting rooms.
What the centre is for
- Business seminars and coaching for new and existing business owners and newcomers.
- Programs for seniors, youth and women: recreational, educational and awareness.
- Women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment programs.
- Programs for children and adults with special needs.
- Community events, exhibitions and cultural celebrations.
- Skills and language classes.
- A studio for PCBO TV on YouTube and IPTV.
- Occasional services of the Consulate General of Pakistan, Toronto.
- Storage for a food bank, and in time a seniors’ residence and a daycare.
